@amiga909 said: @Yogi said: Adding new exciting features is much more fun than debugging existing code - believe me, i known what i'm talking about, being a soft- and hardware developer for more than 30 years now. But - this is…

I'd rather be able to switch to a fill pattern on the fly. Repeated notes/hits machine-gun style with no variation (like the MPC note repeat) get old fast. With a fill pattern more interesting variations can be done.

Update - got a reply

Upvoted! If you've even played with the random patch creator on the Blofeld you know how fun this feature can be
-
@Ian_Jorgensen I emailed you about a possible short set at the Portland appearance and never got a reply.
-
My guess is that once the main feature set is mostly done, Rohan will circle back and do a "refinement" software release or two that addresses these kinds of issues. That's just a guess though.

SMPTE requires an audio out, and there's only the stereo pair. But if you're willing to work in glorious mono, you could start a long SMPTE sample playing on one channel and sync other stuff to it (in theory at least, I haven't tried it on a Deluge)…

Does the Deluge show the same error when slaved to other devices? Or just the Digitakt? Also, try setting the Deluge tempo to 100 and then see if the error reappears. There is a feature on the Deluge that will interpret clocks close to half or do…

Just wanted to add, that if MTC is not practical for some technical reason, SPP (song position pointer) support would be equally helpful for devices that support it, although not many do any more. SMPTE (and MTC- MTC is the midi version of SMPTE) is…

Not as convenient, but editing samples offline is a possible workaround.

That's a good point amiga, but otoh an ability to retune scale degrees would be simple to implement and accessible for people like me who like to create scales by ear. Scala file support would be awesome but would probably take more work.

@amiga909 said: http://forums.synthstrom.com/discussion/284/true-custom-scales#latest Not the same thing. If I understand that thread correctly, it concerns a problem with creating a scale that selects from the regular chromatic notes. …

+1 to hosting the piano samples elsewhere, it's asking for some sort of paid subscription to be able to download. A Google drive link may work

Cirklon is 192 ppqn - that's parts per quarter note. Deluge is 192nd notes - that's 1/4 the resolution, or 48 ppqn. The SOS review says the Pyramid is 96 ppqn. (Maybe that's why they use % microtuning, instead of actual ticks, to obscure the f…

@MK_0 said: Oh, looks like some posts get deleted? At least all posts of solipsvs and posts from others which refer to them? Fine with me. That guy was like a rash. I responded to him at one point (I probably shouldn't have but he serious…

Thanks amiga

I just realized, that there are only 12 sequencer ticks per 16th note (1). Some way to access these ticks would be great. But if I'm right, full Elektron or Pyramid style microtiming is unlikely to happen. This doesn't make the Deluge a bad de…

@workergray I wouldn't work like that, myself - too much like DJing - but I get what you're saying.

@amiga909 said: Got hardware step seqs that have this feature. I am not crazy about it. Deluge offers polyrythms if you use multiple tracks. So I dont' think it is very important. Sorry but that's just not correct. Different length tr…

Cool idea, but I'm not sure how useful fading between individual tracks would be, since I imagine most people would have several patterns playing at any given time. Crossfading between songs makes more sense, but I wonder if that's even possible …

Midi channels can play at the same time - "If you wish to have more than one track outputting on the same MIDI channel simultaneously, you will notice that additional tracks set to the same MIDI channel appear with a suffix after their channel nu…

Was thinking about this some more, and if we're going to get microtiming down to the live record level, zooming in that far probably isn't practical. I'd still like to see more zoom though, and the microtiming feature hopefully will work at every le…

@Icoustik said: Resolution "hack" - works when starting a new song: Double the tempo you'll be working in, then Tempo multiply with Learn + Tempo knob. Keep repeating to get finer resolution. Nice tip, that was buried in the manual…
-
@o0_ said: A microtiming feature could do that - but the grid is a much better interface than having to hold down a note and turn a knob, and it shows you precisely where the event is. So for the Deluge zooming really is more practical, …

@MachineAgeVoodoo said: Having said all that - As soon as you sync the 4000 to external sync, the timing becomes super filmsy and jittery. This has been confirmed since ages. Not if you use SMPTE
-
Like I mentioned on the other thread, I'd rather zoom in and see precisely where the note is relative to surrounding events, then have to only see the timing as a number, for one note at a time. The grid is a great display, let's use it.

@amiga909 said: @pfrf said: I think I read that quantization can be completely turned off on the Deluge. Is that so? I haven’t explored that option, I wonder how it is implemented? manual about quantize: set to OFF (…

Sweet, thanks!

Triplets do help in some cases. Another workaround is to double the tempo, but that only works using the Deluge solo, or only syncing with devices that can handle the doubled tempo (and if I remember to start the tune that way). Would still like …
