dont think its possible. there are a few CC via global settings for stop, start and such. CCs would be more natural than notes, I concur. for visualizing on/off states most midi controllers cant provide a led toggle with notes. most do with CCs.

u can record everything that is played. stop. hold record + play, hold record + play again to stop recording. or u mean something else?

did midi learn the transpose parameter of a synth with a midi cc. cant reproduce this, it only affects this synth not other instruments. maybe you have cloned tracks.
