Grain Sampler
Even a very basic granular sampler would add a lot of sonic potential to the on-board synthesizer. Does the Deluge have enough juice for those types of algorithms?
Am I missing some kind of LFO or delay trick to achieve similar results?

Use Grid To Arm/Disarm Recording
Obvious advantages to automating the record function but mainly for me this is to free up your hands when using other gear with the external IN. It would also record perfect loop lengths and could be made to enter recording and playback on the grid so you can audition the loop for a few bars in between takes...automatically setting up a retake until you nail the part and disarm recording.
Usage: In KIT mode, hold down desired recording start point on grid + RECORD which populates the row with blinking red buttons through the entire length of the track or to the next playback cue and can then be trimmed by pressing an end point on the row. Press the recording start point button again to toggle recording and playback/disarm recording.
Here are some related requests that would mostly be satisfied with just this one. While this request is different than "Start and End Point of Samples", you could technically achieve the same results by automating the start and end points of a resample of the desired sample you want to trim. This request would also streamline the building of multisample instruments by creating a situation where a kit of recording cues would allow you to automatically record one note after another like pre-slicing.

Use Grid To Display/Edit Parameter Values
Pressing the TEMPO knob could toggle between the grid display of notes and a grid display of values. It would make fast work out of complex parameter automations and allow you to perform automations on multiple sounds or tracks or steps at the same time.
-Imagine programming accents/velocities or stutters and delays to perfect increments.
-Imagine editing a recorded automation by step.
-Imagine mastering with the volume (meter bridge) and panning for every sound in a kit or track in a song at the same time (8). The grid could display from the center out to display both at the same time.
-Imagine sequencing any mod destination.
There has been some talk of using pads for values and I think that this idea encompases those and adresses a few other feature requests so I thought to bring it to the table.
What does everybody else 'imagine'?

Option to invert scrolling
Perhaps a "Calibrate Encoders" feature would be the best way to allow everybody to set things up however they want.

Anyone have photos of how the MIDI connectors meet the main PCB (internally)?
The pins come out of the back of the MIDI jacks and fold down to pass through the circuit board. There is plenty of exposure on the legs to work with and it can all be done with the battery replacement level tear down.

sample selection realtime exchange
Good suggestion!
It could even be done to where you select the sample as normal which injects it into the beat but the screen doesn't change so you can continue previewing samples if you want.

Deluge MIDI Host Mod Buildlog
You are my hero, iFreilicht. I'm excited to see how this project goes.
Might I suggest the Klarus 18GT-36 as a good candidate for your 18650's. They are rated at 3600mAh and have top-notch protection circuitry.
