Should the numeric display constantly scroll?

  I have the same setup, 7-segment Deluge with official firmware.

  If you are in clip view and the patch name is longer than 4 chars, then yes, that's normal. All the official presets from the good old pre-OLED days were just numbers from 1 to 170-something and do not scroll because they are short.

  You can rename the patch for the current song only by going into arrange view, hold the launch pad for the patch (the rightmost pad on the row) and press the "name" shortcut. Then give it a shorter name. It will not rename the original patch but the current song will be disconnected from it.

  Unrelated to your question, that's actually a neat trick if you want to double with the original patch because at this point you can load the original patch in another clip an it can play at the same time as the clip with the renamed patch. For example you can pan one hard left and the other hard right for some added depth.
