Hi!
I am biased as I am a co-creator of those apps, but to me they are extremely useful for the Deluge. Kit Maker turns drum sample packs or Maschine expansions into Deluge drum kits instantly, all organized and ready to load in the Deluge. (It also make kit presets for Ableton, MPC, Beatmaker and more).
This is great for someone like me who has a lot of sample packs and likes having a variety of kits, but doesnt want to spend the effort making them by hand.
Preset Maker is the same idea, but for instruments. It can take multi sample files, turn them into multi samplers for the deluge, as well as organize and name them for you. The Deluge already has some multi-sampler preset creation abilities, but Preset Maker does it all really quickly on the computer and names them after the instruments.
The apps were made before the recent Deluge firmware update, so the presets are not organized into subfolders (since this was not yet allowed on Deluge). We will have our Deluge presets organized into folders in a future update, but for now feel free to move the preset xml files into folders as you wish, or even rename them.
Hope that helps inform your decision

I use both ……
Very nice apps. and lovely customer care…….
Combined with loading from folders (choose synth or kit, shift+load) these 2 progs made an enormous difference for me, I would def recommend. It turned a bunch of MPC and NI expansions into sets I can use in more HW, which is cool because working the same samples on different platforms highlights the differences in capability and workflow.
@elgrayso
I just picked up both Kit Maker and Preset Maker. Mostly very happy to be able to convert NI Expansions, but ran into a couple issues with Preset Maker.
(1) All the One Shot conversions are transposed 2 semitones up for some reason. I've checked across multiple conversions and it seems to be a bug. I'm using version 1.2.
(2) This isn't much of a bug, just a curiosity, but how come there isn't an option to just convert the One Shot samples folder for folder VS having to do name mapping? Alternatively, when will we have the option via the UI to do more mappings? I've been editing the settings.json directly to extend how many mappings are possible, but would love to see a lot more slots for mapping AND/OR a way to just convert folder for folder (where the name of the folder is the name of the output).
Super appreciate that this tool exists, btw! A suggestion for a future product is one that can convert patches of some popular subtractive synth that has a lot of available patches to Deluge format. I know it wouldn't sound identical, but it seems possible to get it in the ballpark and produce some interesting results. A much more difficult undertaking, I know, but would be super cool!
I have some questions regarding Kit maker
This is a great idea but I wonder how about preset copyright.
Hi All, I know this thread is old, but I just got kit maker. I just want to be able to grab a set of specific samples to fill out a kit and for kit maker to create the Deluge kit for me. As best as I can tell, Kit Maker has to have the samples in predefined sample pack names to create the kit. In my case, I have to create a Blank Sample Kit and put each individual sample in the right folder. Does anyone have any input on how this can be used effectively with the Deluge?
I bought kitmaker but I personally dont find it that useful. I always end up just creating my own kits. I find that there is too much work on the front end for a user like me to have to make sure file names are in line with what the program is looking for. I also noticed that after creating a kit on the latest update that had 32 chops all numbered 1-32 it created 2 kits but kit one had 17-32 and kit 2 had 1-16. Probably user error but If I had any requests for a kit maker on the deluge it would be to be able to change parameters for samples while creating the kit.
I made a short video overview of Kit Maker, which should help answer some of the questions here
KIT MAKER VIDEO
Make sure to update to the latest version 2.4.0, which I just released (I havent made a video on it yet but you can read the change log). Updates are free and you can check for them at www.kit-maker.com/latest-version
I am always trying to improve the app over time.
Sorry guys, I didn't get notified of your questions, but I will answer them now!
@Prnts , Kit Maker is for importing drum sample packs (of one shot samples) and Maschine Expansions. It can take a large sample pack of drum sounds, and create drum kit presets. There isn't anything I advertise the app doing in terms of processing "numbered chops".
However, if you mean that you want to have pre-grouped kits (folders that each have their own drum sounds in them, to be made as individual kits), you can use the "Process Pre Grouped Kits " option in the "Extras" menu. I go over that in the 2.3 update video and it is streamlined in v 2.4.
It also may be that your "numbered chops" might be a specific use case of yours, that is different from Kit Maker is intended for. 🤔
@uberhaus I believe I talked to you via email for awhile about this and solved the issue!
Let me know if I remember incorrectly.
@cavenger You don't need to move samples into folders or anything (that was in the early days of kit maker), it will read the drum sample pack on its own! However, it sounds like you may be describing the Process Pre Grouped Kits feature I mentioned above. Check the video and see if that looks right
@TOTAL Kit Maker will do all the work for you in converting Maschine Expansions, check out the video in my link. There is no issue with copyright, because you own the Maschine Expansions you have.
Native Instruments has promoted Kit Maker on their blog as a "great way to use Maschine Expansions outside of Maschine" , so they are happy with it 😉
I put a lot of work into this app, but I run the whole small company myself (web design, videos, answering emails etc). So I don't always see all the comments out in the wild. But If you ever have a issue, there is a ton of info on the /help page, and a form to message me directly! If you ever have an issue I am happy to reply and try and reproduce the issue myself, which is how I know what to improve over time.
Thanks for your support ( I'll try to see if I can get email notifications going on this thread)
