How do you tie notes together across screens?

I'm trying to make a note that starts on one screen and ends in another but I can't seem to find out how to do that.
I've tried zooming/unzooming but the math doesn't add up . Can I make a note that starts on the 6th beat of a 6/8 measure and extends to the third beat of the next 6/8 measure?

Ok, I think I have it figured. I hate math.

I had to cheat the time a bit. I entered the pads at 32nd level, and then zoomed out to 2nd, and that gave me the right number of buttons at the right intervals.
But it's different every time. I much prefer the way it was described in the previous answer.
