How about turning 16*8 grid into a touchable display? Left column is for module selection, the rest is for editing its parameter values? Quantized - but should be enough e.g. filter x axis (15 values) for cutoff and y for resonance (8 values), you can display oscillator waveforms, directly select osc osctave and semi detune
