Record and slice the sample

Hello! I found my self a way to do it but I want to be sure that I am doing in the correct and mor straight forward way.
For instance, I want to record a sample from a vinyl and then slice it up.
1. I generate an audio clip, change monitor to listen the sample.
2. Record.
3. Save it ? I save the entire song because I can not find a way to slice the audio clip or save just the audio clip.
4. Then I erase the audio clip, I generate a new row with a new kit and load the sample.
5. Then slice the sample....
I am not sure if I am doing right....also I have some troubles to record the sample: I check pressing the record button it the track is armed. Then I press record, the play but there is not a count in (i configured it).
Thanks for your help!

that's a valid way of doing it.
a slightly faster way is to record into a kit row by holding audition then pressing record to begin the recording. hit record again once your done.
then you can just hit shift+kit to make a new kit and the last sample you recorded will pop up.
you don't have to save a project to keep a new kit row recording. but you do have to save the project to save an audio clip recording.
for your second issue: if there is only one clip and it's an empty audio clip, you won't get a count-in. the reason being that the tempo of the song will be determined after the recording is finished so a count-in at a different tempo may be confusing. to avoid this, just create an extra clip before recording an audio clip.
