SD Card shows write protected after upgrade to Chopin 1.2

After upgrading to Chopin 1.2 i get a write protected message on the SD card. Have checked that the slider on the card is not in a locked position. I'm on a Mac and have backed up the disk contents by creating a new image file. Can I safely try and repair the card now and restore the contents on a reformatted version of the SD card using Disk Utility? Hope this makes sense
PS I am a new second hand owner of the machine so I have no projects as such to save. Thank you

Using Monterey on a 2015 MBP
UPDATE: Have reverted back to 4.1.4 with no write protection error messages coming up anymore. There's an incompatibility with Chopin 1.2 and my unit. I wonder if others have had this problem?
