Gate / MIDI Sequencer 4.1.2 vs Beethoven

Hey all, new to the forum. Please excuse if this question is exhausted.

We are running Deluge 4.1.2 as a sequencer for external gear only. Sequencing OB-Xa outfitted with Midi on one channel and then running a Kit that combines several external drum machines on MIDI and Gates in a single kit (MFB 522, SDS 800, Sequential Drumtracks, Oberheim DMX-8). Finally got it working.

I still need to figure out a few things like how to Erase a note on a Kit after assigning it, renaming a Kit, and not having to Learn the keyboard input each time. Other than that, it's working! Love seqeuncing on deluge.

Do you all recommend moving to Beethoven for MIDI/gate sequencing alone?

I've loaded the community firmware 1.2 (Chopin) and I don't see any reason not to do that. It has more features and you can name MIDI and Gate/CV clips. It's forward compatible but not backward compatible. This means things you made with the official firmware you can load into Beethoven but not the other way around. My advice is to load in the latest community firmware and try things out. Make a backup of your SD card or use another SD card dedicated to the community firmware. Follow the instructions on Github.
