oled display showing only static

Hello!!
I'm new to the community (yay!) - bought my Deluge used, and it arrived today - but the display is showing only static (boo).
Picture here: https://ibb.co/LRpKCH0
Other functions seem to work, but it's a new machine to me, so I'm limited in my understanding. Lights are on, buttons make sound.
So far I have tried:
1. Downloaded the Official firmware V4.1.4 - for OLED Deluge and loaded it onto a NEW 128gb SD card. Put in the new card while holding down SHIFT - and the screen had static for a moment and then went blank. After a while I turned it off and then turned it on. Each time I power on it shows static for a moment and then the screen goes blank. If I put the original 32gb card it was sent with, then the screen just shows static. 128gb card shows static for a moment and then goes blank.
- I took out the screws and carefully took a look at the insides. The cables connected to the display seemed to be affixed firmly. There were four very small screws that had been rattling around loosely that I removed. I put it back together but there was no change in the device behavior.
I would like to be able to resolve the issue rather than return to the seller. Any suggestions? TiA

this sounds like you may possibly have an OLED deluge with an outdated bootloader.
you can check your bootloader version by doing the following (with official firmware installed):
Approach your Deluge, make sure it’s turned OFF.
Hold the BOTTOM, LEFT-MOST pad on the Deluge (‘Sample 1, Mode’).
Turn on your Deluge.
Note what number shows up.
If it displays 0008 you should be good and it's a different issue.
If it's older, then you need to update it for the OLED to properly work with community firmware.
Since this is rare for OLED devices (when Deluge's are retrofitted for OLED or are new OLED's they should have been updated to the correct bootloader by the technician), you have to contact Synthstrom directly to receive the OLED bootloader file.
They'll likely provide the instructions to update the bootloader, but you can reference the steps for that here: https://github.com/SynthstromAudible/DelugeFirmware/wiki/Bootloader-precautions-for-"numeric"-Deluge-developers
