recording / overdubbing automation in Arranger mode?

Hi sound lovers, I want to know if there is a way to overdub automation in Arranger mode? So I have an arrangement and I want to add automation to one track / synth in the arranger window. Is this possible without wiping out all the other tracks already recorded? I'm guessing in the newer firmware versions it is. I'm still using version 3 I think. Anyway it would be good to know as I can't find info in the manual.
