Open Source Noob Question

Hi everyone,
I am completely lost with this whole open source thing. I mean I understand that coders can develop firmware updates and so on.
But for me as a customer and non developer:
- where can I find firmware updates?
- is there a documentation about the updates i.e. what is included and how does it affect other functions of the deluge?
- is firmware update process the same as for "official" updates?
- any other important things to consider with this whole thingy?
I couldn't really find something here in the forum. Sorry if I just missed it.

Hi @Hannes
I am also not a developer, but have been having a look around at what some poeple have been up to!
As it currently stands, nothing community made is official yet, I saw post about how things will be merged over time, but cant remember where I read that...
User made firmware installs like other firmware updates (Shift + Power on)
You can head over to the GitHub page (https://github.com/SynthstromAudible/DelugeFirmware), and have a look little look around there, some interesting things in the works, and a whole bunch of clever cats chatting about it heheh
Alter has made a firmware with a whole bunch of cool features which are already very nice additions, there are even a few YouTube videos up about them (https://www.youtube.com/@alter808)
As a side note, to my understanding, the GitHub page is for Devs to chat and not the rest of the community
Would rather keep those discussion channels clean and strictly development focused
@Hannes
I'll be providing a How To Guide in the next week or so to assist non-developers and coders alike!
You should be able to find all your answers in there, I'll post the link here when it's live!
Until then, @TYDE has provided some useful information!
@reza
any news on that?
Taking longer than expected, I'd like to get it out sooner, but expecting it by the end of the month is a safer bet.
hey! the guide is viewable here now: https://github.com/SynthstromAudible/DelugeFirmware/wiki
Great! Thank you very much
