Drawing automation to modulate without an LFO

I'm still trying to unwire my pro tools brain and curious if there is a way to draw automation on the grid to do modulate a parameter? Possibly with a midi track ?

Deluge does not have a feature to display or edit automation on the grid. You have to turn knobs in real time to record and edit automations.
do we know if it's a potential ad to the firmware down the road? coming from Hapax, drawing on the grid is a pretty handy feature
