Error 0005 with external controller?

Got an Akai MPK Mini MK3 (black, so goth :D ) and a USB-A -> USB-B dongle and I plugged it in to my Deluge that was connected to power adapter. The MPK was powered on immediately though Deluge was turned off. Then I tried turning on Deluge and nothing happened. No lights or anything. Tried again. Nothing. 3rd time Deluge turned on but displayed only code 0005 on the screen. I was like WTF, turned it off and then turned it on again and it started working normally and MPK connected and worked. Nice.

But my question is: what the hell just happened and how can I avoid it happening again? :#
