[Bug?] White clips cannot be (MIDI) recorded into in arranger mode without first entering them once

Is this a known bug? Undocumented misfeature? It appears you have to enter clips to bless them once before being able to record into them in arranger mode.

  1. Go to arranger mode
  2. Create two white clips on the second line.
  3. Learn a MIDI keyboard for the second line: press LEARN+AUDITION and press a key on the keyboard. Audition flashes white.
  4. Press Record and Play, and record some notes
  5. Play the result and find that neither clip has recorded anything
  6. Click on one clip to enter it. Then immediately exit to arranger mode.
  7. Press Record and Play, and record some notes when the timeline is in that clip interval
  8. Play the result: it has recorded
  9. Click on the second clip to enter it. Then immediately exit to arranger mode.
  10. Press Record and Play, and record some notes when the timeline is in EITHER clip interval
  11. Play the result: it has recorded into both intervals when appropriate.

I am guessing that this may be because when you create a white clip, the deluge may not actually make anything until you have entered it and forced its hand. This is quite unfortunate, as it creates an extra hoop to jump through just to record notes into a new clip in arranger mode.
