Separate note data from trigger data? (MIDI and/or CV) ?

I was wondering if there was a way to separate the trig/gate for a note from the note value. Meaning, for example, you have a bassline note value in one midi clip, and in the other clip you have a kit row which sends gates/trigs to the same channel as that midi clip. This way you could play with the rhythmic groove on the fly without having to worry about note placement. This feature would be especially useful with the next release of the firmware, which will have euclidean pattern generation built in.

Would be even more cool if you could do this with built in synths as well. Make a synth clip, set note info, make a kit and somehow link one row to trigger the synth clip. Instant grooviness.
