Can't create an Audio Clip in Deluge

I'm having problems creating an audio clip on my Deluge and need help.
When I go into Song mode, I press and hold the pad of the clip and then push on the black knob. Doing so is supposed to convert the clip into an audio clip, but on my Deluge it says, "Cant" on the BCD screen. Essentially I'm doing what is seen on this video, but it doesn't work. 
My Deluge is Firmware 3.1.3.
What can I do to troubleshoot this problem?

That usually happens when there’s notes already sequenced in the clip. Clear out the clip first or create a new blank clip before turning it into an audio clip.
