Song Mode, Shift > Mute Launch. Smoother transition?

Is there any way to play one section, then Shift + MuteLaunch the next without the first sections notes being cut short?
Is there a way of the last note in the first played section to play out, then the next section starts, creating a smoother transition between sections?
