true recording of shift+ mute into arranger

It would be fantastic to be able to simply record 'what you hear' and 'when you hear it' using shift + mute/launch pads whilst recording from song mode into arranger. Otherwise you have to do all the editing inside arranger and this curbs the live flow which many people use to jam and create songs. Is this a possible upgrade??? Thankyou
