Is it or will it be possible to use mod matrix for midi CC values?

I have had my Deluge for a month or so now and have started to use it as my main sequencer in my hardware setup.
One of the things I tried to do that I couldn't get to work was to use an Envelope/LFO to mod the CC value mapped to an external synth. I currently am able to do this using a Elektron Digitakt.

I was able to work around the issue in 2 ways:
1. Record the automation on the Deluge manually using mapped CC
2. Record the automation on the External synth manually via midi track learn

Both those options are fine for now but I would love to be able to mod my mapped CC values using the Deluge Envelope/LFOs.

The way I would think it would work would be to automate the parameter slot that the CC value is assigned to in relation to a standard synth track. For example, if I assign the CC value to the Volume/Pan button then I would be able to automate that CC value by routing my modifiers to the Volume/Pan values on the matrix.

Maybe I missed something but it doesn't appear to be possible.
