Why a 3.5 mm mic input?

I wonder about the mic input on the Deluge. What type of mic do you recommend? I’m more used to microphones working with XLR or 6.5 jack cables, and so I thought you had a precise idea in mind by chosing this input!

Many devices use 3.5mm jacks for their microphones. Common such devices are digital cameras, field recorders, and going back a bit further in time, minidisk recorders and walkmans. Devices like these, and the Deluge, provide "plug-in power" to their microphone through the connector. There are many such microphones available. Perhaps searching for "video camera microphone" might be a good start.

Hey @rohan, thanks a lot, I didn’t know about this! My mics are passive indeed. Maybe I’ll try to use my Zoom H4n as a mic by routing the headphone out into the Deluge then. Should work :)

Oh Man, thanks Rohan!...I knew I saved that Sony ECM-MS907 for some reason.
