notes ratcheting when playing

Hi,
So I have no basis of what is normal or not since I literally just got it yesterday, but when playing notes I get a ratcheting of more notes being triggered than I'm pressing. It's very noticeable when doing things like arpeggios or fast hihats. I noticed it on the 1.2.1 Cfirmware, but I tried reverting to 4.1.4 official to see if it persisted and it did.
I hope you'll forgive me for being paranoid, probably caused by how in love I am with this piece of gear, and maybe this is just how the pads are on every deluge and just not very suitable for doing faster finger drumming type stuff, but I wanted to make sure if something was up with the thing before I contact the distributor to report a potential error, or if this is completely normal.
thanks in advance
EDIT: It's especially prominent with staccato notes, and I feel like it's a huge hassle for recording anything that's just even a little bit fast as you have to zoom in real close to delete the extra micro-notes from a take, so either no one else is using it to play stuff on which I find doubtful, or this is a problem unique to my unit, at least in this severity.

share a video of this occurring and it might be easier to point out what's going on, but it sounds like overly sensitive pad contacts. do you notice it happens with particular pads?
Since it's quite a hassle for me to record a video of it I wanted to just hear if this was something others could recognize, but I'll get on getting some documentation of it for sure. It's late here, so I'll get on it tomorrow morning.
I wouldn't say the issue is subtle, but it's mostly noticeable if you're doing rapid 16th notes and maybe other folks are more prone to using external MIDI controllers for that. It's more or less that I was expecting a fully tactile, playable instrument, especially with what I would consider a really nice grid for the job, and it's a pretty big letdown if I wouldn't be able to use it for that. If I miss a pad or don't have enough velocity on it to trigger, I'd much rather get no sound than short ratchet-y notes.
I tried doing the same patterns all over the grid and there might be some individual buttons that are more prone to it, but it's hard to tell which. Every quadrant at least seems to replicate the issue fairly frequently which is what led me to think it was a bigger issue than a few over-sensitive buttons.
If at least others can confirm that this isn't an issue on their device then that would also ease my mind, as I can still return this unit and get another, possibly from another retailer. But if it's a "feature not a bug" type situation then that would be a little disappointing.
if it makes you feel better, it's definitely not normal
It does, yeah. It's annoying having to return the unit and wait for another to arrive, but it's a much better reality than this issue being something I would just have to live with.
anyway, here's a video demonstration. It's probably not clear from the video but I'm not accidentally hitting other velocity pads. I can recreate the issue on the key page with a synth voice where it would be obvious if I was hitting other notes, but the ratcheting effect is less noticeable in a short demonstration than with something like hihats.
