Parameter Value displaying, when changing, when assigned to a MIDI device.

0

Its great to assign parameters to MIDI devices for quick access.
When doing that with multiple values, the overview is lost quickly.
It would be great, to see the actual value and the parameter on screen when changing the e.g. MIDI device knob, like as you would change the parameter on the deluge itself.
Hope that makes sense?
Best. Werner

making this clear/readable would be difficult on the 7SEG deluge screen, but could be more viable on the OLED screen.
displaying just the values when turning gold knobs is currently being explored in the community firmware which should help and possibly lead to the same implementation for midi assigned knobs.

Okay.7Seg would maybe only show the value itself.
On the OLED it would make lot of sense. Especially when a lot of Parameters are assigned (which is pretty handy), the usability would be improved a lot.
    Looking forward.

and imagine one could name each parameter (w/ OLED display).

But what if one midi knob is assigned to multiple parameters? How would it know which one to show?

Furthermore, if you were sending multiple midi cc’s in sequence from an external device what you’d end up with is a spam of popups on your deluge’s display.

This would only really make sense on OLED and probably only if you created a midi monitor mode that just listed all the midi cc’s coming through.

Didnt know that One Knob can be assigned multiple times. huh.
Well sure that can become very complex. Its more that when you assign a midi input, and you forget which one it was, you will never find the assignment again.
Maybe there is a more clever solution?

We’re talking about mapping an external midi controller’s knobs to deluge’s internal parameters right? (Eg to LPF, HPF)?

If yes, then yea you can map an external CC to control multiple params on the deluge. I’ve done it before.

I think the only clever solution would be a midi monitor but it would only really be good for the OLED screen. Maybe a menu to show mappings also.

    yes and yes. :)

Just as a thought.. Could there be a mode which you set, which would light up the PAD corresponding to the parameters which are connected?
E.g. when the Mode lets call it "Show assignments" is enabled, and you would adjust an external Knob, Slider etc. the corresponding pad flashes.
Then you can recall this "connection" at least.
Ideally you could connect that option to the midi device as well (e.g. assign it to a button), then it is easily to be controlled.

Additional the value could be shown on the display.

That would work for 7seg as well for Oled :)

Ooohhh yes excellent idea to make the pads flash! That would be the easiest solution :)
