Automation per step without using gold knobs

I understand that I can do per-step automation by holding a pad/note + adjusting one of the gold knobs.
That way you can only automate what is assigned to the gold knobs, plus you don't see the exact value in the screen, only the 4 lights next to the gold knobs.

Is it possible to do per-step automation for things that are not assigned to the gold knobs? i.e. all options in the pad grid.
Is it possible to see the exact value when doing per-step automation of the golden knobs?

    You can assign various parameters to gold knobs then automate.
    Cant see the parameter value while automating, but you can shift+pad the wanted parameter after the automation to see the numerical values changing
