XY modulation shortcut buttons don't seem to work? But assigning modulation via menu diving does

Howdy Delugers,
Quick question regarding MPE controllers modulating using the XY buttons. On my deluge, nothing happens when I try to select XY as a modulation destination. (I'm using a Linnstrument with the Deluge, FYI, and all MPE functions seem to be working normally)
However when I assign a modulation source to X or Y via menu diving, it works fine.
Is this how it should work? Or is my deluge possibly having an issue where the XY buttons don't work, but should?

Are you first selecting a shortcut for the parameter you wish to modulate, and then selecting the mod source (X,Y, etc.)?
Oh, I thought I had deleted this, as I have learned what I was doing wrong from someone at Deluge.
My problem was the that I hadn't realized I needed to switch the shortcut control to V.3 or 4, whatever the latest is.
