9v vs 12v

Is there any benefit to using 12v over 9v to charge/power a Deluge? I've used several different 12v chargers with differing amperages, which doesn't **seem **to change the charging time. Any difference I should expect choosing between 9v and 12v? I ask because Birdcord 9v is natually center-negative, but 12v is center-positive, and I'd prefer to not have to worry about yet another adapter (polarity converter) if there wouldn't be a difference. Thanks.
