manually set MIDI in channel per synth clip

use case: i have a software sequencer that is sending midi data into the deluge on four midi channels. i want to manually set 4 different instrument clips to respond to each of those 4 channels, live, while it's running.
looking at section "12.3 MIDI In" of the manual has this automatic learn method of setting the midi in for an instrument clip.
can different instrument clips be set to respond to incoming messages from different midi devices (channels)? ... and without using this learn method?
