  • Disable Light Animations in Keyboard View

In Keyboard View the Deluge lights up every instance of a note in every octave when a note is pressed. This might be done to help educate the user about the logic of the isometric note layout. I think the drawbacks outweigh this benefit:

    1) Flashing lights make it harder to see the pattern of illuminated lights that describe the current scale. Every time a note is pressed you no longer can tell the root at a quick glance. Sometimes I stop playing so I can see the scale lights better.

    2) Flashing lights distract player and neighbors. I felt bad on a dark airplane making all these flashing lights even with the Deluge dimmed all the way down.

The player is already expected to memorize shapes for every other musical interval on the isometric layout, why should they need extra help for the octave? Can we please have an option to turn off this animation? I think it would be OK to just cancel the animation altogether instead of adding another keyboard shortcut. Linnstruments originally had this same animation of lighting up like notes but Roger Linn removed the animation for similar reasons.

Thank you! Overall I'm a huge Deluge fan of course.

  • Deluge + Linnstrument 128.

I've used Deluge a but with my full sized Linny, and it worked pretty well but I need more time with it. Of course Deluge doesn't do MPE yet so don't go this route if you're expecting that. The Deluge DOES work as a USB host for the Linny. I think the Deluge even worked to power the Linny when the Linny was in low power mode.

I think the LInny and Deluge really compliment each other by using the same grid layout. That way when you're commuting with just the Deluge you can learn songs, then when you get home and plug in the Linny you can play it right away on Linny without re-learning anything.

One quirk is that Deluge doesn't have dynamic Midi routing. So you have to tell one particular clip to accept midi from a certain channel, and set the Linny up so communicate on that channel. The Linny will always control that clip, regardless of what clip you are viewing. It is kind of neat to have the deluge in keyboard mode for one clip and the Linny controlling a seperate clip that is out of view. But I would prefer to just have the Linny control whatever clip I'm looking at. Of course this midi behaviour that I'm describing is the same for any midi controller, not just the Linny.

  • Grid Keyboard Mode!

I'm not following allowing with the concept. Can you make a quick sketch or diagram to illustrate the idea?

  • 3.2 Firmware Tease (MPE Support)

Thank you so much for pushing MPE forward. This is officially the first MPE Hardware synth with a USB host port. Can't wait to plug in my Linny with one cable and get jamming!
