  • Deluge firmware V2.0.0 released

We're enormously proud to announce the release of our new Deluge V2.0.0 firmware.

Download it here. (updated to 2.0.2)

    Huge new features:

    -- Song arranger mode
-- 30 - 50% or more improvement to CPU efficiency (i.e. more voices)
-- Around 30x more RAM available for working on a song
-- New analog-modelling synth engine features
-- Effect tails may now be heard even after a track finishes playing (including outside of the new arranger mode)
-- MIDI CC, pitch bend, and channel aftertouch recording, sequencing and output
-- MIDI note outputs within kits
-- Note velocity now defaults to that of last touched note (per track)
-- Innumerable other bugfixes and improvements

Read all about the new features in our updated manual.

Ron Cavagnaro has made a great introductory video on the new arranger mode.

To accompany this release, we've expanded the supplied collection of synth presets to 168 total, including many user submissions. This will be supplied on the SD cards of all Deluges shipping from today. For those with a Deluge already, you can download it:
-- Entire factory SD card contents (182MB)
-- Synth presets only (216KB - this is all that's actually changed - place these in your SYNTHS folder)
This collection replaces the 92 synth presets which have been supplied with all Deluges up until now, and still contains almost all of the same sounds or improved versions of them. See the manual for the list of preset titles and creators. Replacing the synth presets in your SYNTHS folder will have no effect on the sound of your previously saved songs.

PLEASE NOTE: any songs saved with this firmware will be unreadable by older firmware versions.

Another note - due to the huge changes to the synth engine, there is regrettably a chance that some of your existing songs may sound a little different with the new firmware. We've done our very best to minimize this, but the following cases may need slight tweaks to the parameters to sound exactly the same as before:
-- Sounds with the filter resonance on full
-- Sounds featuring both an LPF and an HPF

To install the update, place the .bin file onto your SD card, ensure there are no other .bin files on there, put the card back into your Deluge, and then hold down the shift button while powering on. A spinning animation will display, and the firmware will be permanently installed.

  • Deluge firmware V4.0.1 released

Firmware V4.0.1 is now released. It contains a number of important bug fixes, and we recommend you update.

    --- Download V4.0.1 here ---

    Fixes include:

    • Fixed rare problem along the lines of a “memory leak” which could lead to audio / voice dropouts, crackling, and failure to load some audio files, particularly when many audio files had been loaded (e.g. multisampled instruments)
    • Fixed - navigating through presets with the select knob could cause files and folders with the “SYNTxxx” naming format to show up, when they should be listed by their number alone
    • Fixed - parameter / MPE automation not loading correctly for rows whose length had been made longer than their clip
    • Fixed audio glitches when creating a unique / "white" copy of a clip instance in arranger view
    • Fixed problem with some arpeggiator modes not working correctly for items within kits
    • Fixed crash if you pressed save while in sound editor for audio clip
    • Fixed freeze if trying to load kit while in keyboard view

Thanks to our beta testers, who have given this a very thorough test before release.

    Installation
To install the update, place the .bin file onto your SD card, ensure there are no other .bin files on there, put the card back into your Deluge, and then hold down the shift button while powering on. A spinning animation will display, and the firmware will be permanently installed.

Please take this opportunity to back up the data from your SD card while it's in your computer. Any storage technology can fail, and we want your work to be safe regardless.

  • Deluge firmware V3.1.0 released

Today we are releasing Deluge firmware V3.1.0, containing a number of new features and improvements.

Important: songs saved with V3.1 will not be readable by older firmware versions. Please back up your songs and / or save them as new files.

    Download it here.

    New features include:
    * Default resolution for new songs is now 384th-notes (at which the max zoom level is 128th-notes). This default is double what it was before, and may be set even higher (up to 6144th-notes!) without consuming any additional CPU power
    * Horizontal note nudge - hold down a note’s pad, and hold down and turn the <> knob to move the note in increments of the song’s minimum resolution unit (384th-notes default for new songs)
    * Note repeat - hold down a note’s pad, and hold down and turn the vertical scroll knob to dial in more or less repeats of the note, which will be spaced as equally as possible within the time interval represented by the pad you’re holding
    * Default velocity may be set. Settings menu -> DEFAults -> VELOcity
    * The Deluge can now host USB hubs, allowing multiple USB MIDI devices to be connected
    * The Deluge now sends MIDI to hosted USB MIDI devices. Previously it would only receive
    * Jitter (timing errors) when playing to an incoming MIDI or trigger clock has been drastically reduced, especially when CPU load is heavy
    * You can now mute and unmute rows of a kit while stutter is engaged
    * The colours which appear on the mute/launch pads can now be changed for active, muted, stopped, and soloing rows. Settings menu -> PADS -> COLOurs

    Documentation
The new features are documented in the newly updated V3.1 edition of the official Deluge guidebook.

Or to read about the new features only, an "addendum" is provided.

  • Third Party Software for the Deluge

3rd-party Deluge software developers, I've put together some basic documentation for the new XML file format that the Deluge saves to - updated for firmware V3.0. I'll be adding to this more over time, and edit-access will also be granted to developers of established / released 3rd-party Deluge software.

Hope this is helpful for you - obviously it's not a complete specification - let me know if there are particular areas you need further info on and I'll update it as I have time.

  • Incorrect waveforms displayed for audio clips ended with SHIFT+MUTE?

Thanks everyone! I've replicated and largely determined the cause of the problem. It's actually a trickier one to fix, but I'll come back to it shortly and do so :)

  • Automation not saved properly after recording to arranger, saving and loading (3.1.5)

Hi @Ywen, thanks for finding this bug! I've just found and fixed it - it was a bit of a tricky one.

The fix will be in the next firmware release / beta :)

  • Clicking when filter cutoff is very low

This bug is now fixed, and the fix will be in the upcoming V2.0 firmware. Thanks Chvad!
