  • Downrush Intro Video

I just made a demo video showing Downrush in action. You can watch it on YouTube here:

    Ian_Jorgensen
  • step to next/previous track in track editor mode w/o going back to song

When I look over a song from my past, I dive into each track, then go back to song mode, dive into the next track, and so on. Is there (or could there be) a way to step forward or backward through the tracks in the track editor without the back and forth?

  • New Downrush with Midian

Midian added to Downrush. Now it is easy to import Midi!

    https://github.com/jamiefaye/downrush/releases/tag/1.0.2b17

Download the .zip file and unpack it. You will see a directory named "distribution".
Copy the DR directory from the distribution directory over onto the FlashAir card replacing any existing DR directory.
If this is the first time, also copy over the SD_WLAN directory to the root level of the FlashAir card.
If you have issues, please email jamie@fentonia.com and include a copy of the SONG, KIT, or SYNTH file that was causing troubles. Also please describe the computer and browser program involved.

  • Next thing - Kit Editor

The next thing I am planning to work on is to add "Kit Editing" to the score viewer. It would let you change the contents of a kit standing alone or embedded in a song. After that we connect Waverly and concoct a way to designate sample-splits.

I am putting off synth parameter editing until we can come up with a way to make it work in real-time.

  • Future of Downrush

I plan on updating the XML file viewer as needed to support new features as they emerge. The emphasis will be on visualizing the Deluge files, as opposed to editing them. It does not make sense to implement more file-editing features until there is a way for Downrush to command the Deluge to reload the file being edited. Downrush could grow to be a mighty tool, but it needs for the Deluge to work with it, so that Downrush can tell what state the Deluge is in. Until that happens, I don’t expect to do much more with Downrush beyond rendering notation.

I plan on making Downrush easier for other engineers to work on. I have already done a fair amount of stuff working towards this goal. Downrush uses the WebPack build system and the React framework for generating part of the user interface. I will be putting together a developer on-boarding guide that explains how to set up a development environment and how the programs are organized.

  • Downrush with 3.0 support (beta)

  • automatically load updated version of song on timestamp change

The Downrrush package can change song, kit, and synth file contents on the fly. Is it possible for Deluge to notice when the time-stamps of these files change, and when they do, treat such events as if the song was changed via the user interface, and then load the updated song data? On the next beat cue, change over to the new settings as if the user did a "Load" on that song file.

  • New DR version with step up/down thru directory feature.

I added a feature to make looking at your SONGs, SYNTHs, and KITs easier.

You will now notice an up-arrow button and a down-arrow button at the top of the screen, next to the Save button.

Pushing the down-arrow button causes the page to load the next SONG, SYNTH, or KIT (in numerical order). Pushing the up-arrow steps back to the previous entry.

This makes walking thru your SONG, SYNTH, and KIT items much easier than using the Open button dialog.

  • Deluge Online Patch/Synth editor ( work in progress )

xmlView uses Handlebars templates. There is a huge one named sound_template that generates a 16 x 8 table showing the sound parameters in a matrix that follows the form of the Deluge shortcuts that are stenciled on most Deluges. There is a 'helper macro' call for each parameter that hints at the range and format of each parameter. The most common helper is fixh, which does the 0x80000000 to 0x7fffffff to 0-50 conversion described above.

  • Deluge Online Patch/Synth editor ( work in progress )

Have a look at the Downrush sub-program called xmlView. I did some reverse-engineering of the representation of most of the synth parameters. Many of these map from 0x80000000 to 0x7fffffff to 0-50. https://github.com/jamiefaye/downrush
