I am very much enjoying my new Deluge. It definitely has certain limits, but the more i learn the more i see ways around those limits. Now what struck me as odd was the lack of pads in the presets. I mean, don't get me wrong, the deluge is not exactly a massive pad machine.
But man, the inclusion of unison, lfo detune, and a bunch of other goodies make some really nice atmospheric sounds possible. A unison count of 3 already gives plenty of width and there's some really nice things possible with the filters.
I guess my point is, don't disregard the built in synth when you need some pad layers in your song. It's surprisingly capable, if you invest time in your own presets. Also kudos for a great user interface!
