Delay crackles when Deluge is synced to external clock

I can hear a small crackling sound on patches with clocked delay when the Deluge is synced from another device. I think it's the master clock constantly adjusting itself slightly to stay in time, which also adjusts the clocked delay speed. But it sounds a bit shit. The way around it is to turn off sync and record the part in manually, but it's a bit awkward. Anyone else had this?

I reported it as a bug, but was told by Rohan it's by design, so the only option is unsync delay.
